Background
Randy Dunn is a professional free lance trumpet and flugelhorn player who works primarily in the greater Houston area, where he can frequently be heard performing a variety of styles of music, including jazz, pop, rhythm & blues, soul, funk, latin, classical, sacred (contemporary and traditional), and much more.
Randy is a regular member of
The Bayou Funk Experiment, a party/dance/cover band that features a three-piece horn section that specializes in funk, rhythm & blues, Motown, disco, modern swing and jazz, pop, and rock classics, plus the best current contemporary hits. He has also performed with
Jacqui Sutton's Frontier Jazz Orchestra. He also frequently works as a classical musician, playing trumpet and piccolo trumpet as a soloist and in a variety of orchestras and chamber ensembles, including the Windscape Brass Ensemble and the Bayou City Fanfare Trumpets.
Randy attended the University of Houston Moores School of Music, where he earned a Bachelor of Music degree and all-level music teaching certification. In addition to his busy free lance trumpet schedule, he also currently teaches band at Cook Fine Arts Academy in the Houston Independent School District.
