Background

R. Christian Tucker has been a long-time fixture on the JAZZ scene in Houston. Since 1989, he has been "dishing dimes" as far as giving credit to Houston's most outstanding and relatively unknown JAZZ artists. He was the Principle emcee for The Houston International Jazz Festival for 14 years, The Houston Jazz Festival, Dancing In The Streets, (The Music of Motown & More) at Miller Outdoor Theatre, Shape Community Center's Pan African Cultural Festival, Kwanzaa Celebrations, The Community Music Center of Houston's Annual Jazz Concert (Miller Outdoor), and was the ONLY emcee for The Conrad Johnson Orchestra for 15 years. A veteran of radio and TV, Chris is the former host/producer of The AM Jazz Place, Mid-day Jazz Buffet,and Mid-day Friday Oldies on KTSU 90.9 FM, and worked at Smooth Jazz 98.5 FM, and Gospel 1070 AM. Chris also produced the TV talk shows Consumer Spotlite and Uptown Live on Access Houston Cable TV, as well as the live shows Uptown, Rising Stars '87 & '88, and served a stint as a freelance camera operator at KHOU TV Channel 11. Chris was also a performing member of The Ensemble Theatre for many years and a writer/producer/performer for Razor Blade Comedy and the touring comedy troupe, The Ebony Looneytics. He is a founding member and initial concert producer/promoter for The Conrad Johnson Music & Fine Arts Foundation as Public Relations Coordinator/Quality Control Officer. Another cherished accomplishment is producing/emceeing alongside his Mother, Internationally renown Gospel recording artist and National Anthem singer Barbara Johnson Tucker. ("Order My Steps") He has graced the stage with such JAZZ Legends as: the late Grover Washington Jr. & Stanley Turrentine, Chuck Mangione, Ramsey Lewis, Spyro Gyra, The Rippingtons, Clark Terry, George Benson, Norman Brown, Kirk Whalum, Alex Bugnon, The Crusaders, Joe Sample, La La Wilson, Hubert Laws, Ronnie Laws, Nnenna Freelon, Wynton Marsallis, Steve Turre, Jonathan Butler, Boney James, Pancho Sanchez, Paquito D'Rivera, Gato Barbieri, Arturo Sandoval, Kim Waters, Al Jarreau, Angie Stone, Regina Belle, Destiny's Child, the late Art Porter, The Kennedy Center Phyllicia Rashad and Bobby Lyle.  Chris was formerly the house Emcee at the Houston Arena Theatre, and as a member of the touring band La La Wilson & Company.  Most recently he has been named as Executive Director of The Jazz Walk Of Fame, and Chief Engineer, Production room Mgr., and Quality Control Officer of the 132 year old Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church in Third Ward.   When you want quality and professionalism, call R.
