Background

Michele Sotomayor began her musical studies at age 11 in the Spring Independent School District in Houston, Tx. Throughout her early years she competed in numerous solo, ensemble, and concerto competitions and has performed in several region band and orchestra groups. Her junior year of high school, Michele recieved a scholarship to attend the Interlochen Arts Camp where she was privileged to work under the tutelage of some of the worlds most respected musicians. This is when her love for jazz first bloomed. Upon her summer training at the camp she was offered a scholarship to attend the Interlochen Arts Academy where she graduated high school in 2005.

Since then Michele has moved on to pursue other endeavors aside of music but continues to play and seize any opportunities that become available for her to peform. She eagerly seeks to find a good jazz group to play with. She can pick up tunes and rhythms easily and works whole heartedly and collaboratively in group settings.
