Background
As a child I learned to play guitar from books, relatives, friends, watching and listening to other players. Much later in life went back to school to study music. Music Major at Moores School of Music then graduated with a Bachelors of Arts degree in Music Ministry at Concordia University 2006 with the support of my lovely wife and family. Taught by some great professors like Dr. Brian Trittin, Jonathan Eifert, Jim Lawrie, David Wheeler, Dr. Randy Snyder, Jeremy Garcia, Rosendo Reyna, Noe Marmelejo and Mike Wheeler who were very inspiring and encouraging through the journey.
From 2004 to 2007, I had the opportunity to gain experience and complete an internship requirement in music ministry by working for Emanuel Presbyterian Church in Austin as their music director. While attending Concordia University I was a member of the Concordia Jazz Band and the Chorale. I also studied music and participated in jazz bands at San Jacinto College and the University of Houston. In 2009 worked as a music director for the Asian American Church of Houston. 2010 - Currently getting a few jazz standard gigs here in town. Also spent the last few years recording my originals and some jazz standards in a small home studio. The work that I've done is posted on my website at www.frankmatta.com.
