SCOTT GERTNER Scott Gertner, a celebrated two-time Grammy® Award Nominee, is known for his unique singing style of R&B vocalizations with contemporary jazz flair. He pairs his musical abilities with a business focus to bring live musical entertainment to Houstonians in two venues: Scott Gertner’s SKYBAR and Grille and Scott Gertner’s Sports Bar Live.

Gertner has wowed audiences across the nation with his unparalleled performance ability combining quality sound, energy and dynamic performance on stage. Gertner was in prime company along with Luther Vandross, Barry White and Smokey Robinson in the "Traditional Male Vocal" category when he received a Grammy Nomination for "Don't Wanna Say Goodbye" from his self titled CD, Scott Gertner, Live, a Night to Remember. He has been named "Best Musician" by several publications.

Gertner and his band have opened for acts such as Michael Bolton, B.B. King, Brian McKnight, Erykah Badu, George Benson, The Temptations, Keith Sweat, Will Downing, Michael Franks, The O'Jays, Sinbad, Grover Washington, Gerald Levert, The Neville Brothers and Sammy Davis Jr.

Scott Gertner's SKYBAR and Grille, a 300-seat nightspot with concert sound and lighting in the Montrose/Museum area, features live R&B and contemporary jazz performances. It has hosted such major international performers as Spyro Gyra, Angela Bofill, Chick Corea, Pete Fountain, David Benoit, Gato Barbieri, Johnny Gill, Acoustic Alchemy and Keiko Matsui as part of the ongoing Scott Gertner's SKYBAR and Grille National Jazz Series, as well as showcasing Scott Gertner and his band. The nightclub has been praised as "Best Jazz Venue,” "Best View & Best Romantic Bar" and "Best Chi-Chi Bar" in various "Best of Houston" readers’ polls. Gertner has been awarded the Museum District Business Alliance Community Award for "Enhancing Cultural Options and Restoring an Important Live Music and Entertainment Venue on Montrose Boulevard."

A second venue, Scott Gertner’s Sports Bar Live, opened in January 2006. This 9,000-square-foot sports bar in the Galleria area features 30 plasma televisions, a 4,000-square-foot covered patio with live entertainment, interactive games and pool tables, secured wi-fi and a full dining menu.

Gertner gives countless hours of his time for fundraisers, fashion shows and holiday events held to benefit cancer research, cerebral palsy, United Fund, Black United Fund, various AIDS foundations, muscular dystrophy, sickle cell anemia and the Anti Defamation League. He also helps raise money for music programs in schools that have no public funding for music education, and performs regularly at inner city schools. Gertner most recently has served on the board of the 2006 Unity Festival and the “Let the Fashion Begin” fundraiser for sickle cell disease and has been active of the Museum District Business Alliance board since 2002. A Houstonian since age 6, Gertner attended the High School for the Performing and Visual Arts and the University of Houston.
