HAD ANY GOOD SAX LATELY? A native New Yorker and Berklee College of Music Alumni, Shaakir has been on a military tour since 11/2001 and the first artist choosen to travel to Europe through the newley developed entertainment department in 2005. His first album, "a dif'rent kinda SAX", debuted in '2000, with "Smooth Sensual Sax", "Saxmas", "Patriotic Sax" for the military, "LIfe is Timing", "Perspectives", and his 2006 release..."Grown Folks Music". Compared to many, Shaakir's sound is best described as soulful grooves, or as he calls it on his latest, "Groove Thang". An endorsee for L.A. Sax since '2000, Shaakir's primary saxophone is Alto, but plays Tenor, Saxello and Curved Soprano as well.
